March wedding

Saturday March 28th, 2015 at 3:30
Christine and David's wedding
Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, OH

It might have been cold outside, but Christina was warmed by the friends and family that came to celebrate the day with herself and David. CTBT was there to help make the brides hair beautiful. This is what we came up with!

Chris of Columbus Traveling Beauty Team created this soft curl with twists on Christina, using noting but her natural hair. When Christina first got in contact with CTBT she thought she might have needed some help with hair extensions. Obviously you can tell she didn't need them. She has plenty of hair. It just takes a team that know how to work with hair to make it stand out more.

We  can't wait to see pictures of Christina in her dress! Amanda Muschlitz of Mushchlitz Photography, LLC.

Congrats Christina and David.

We love our photoshoot hair and makeup

When it comes to doing hair and makeup for photoshoots some people think, "I'll just do it myself so I can look like myself". Then when they see the pictures they are always surprised on how they look. Some wonder, what happened to their makeup? Don't be surprised again! Let a true professional hair and makeup that knows how to makeup you look your best (without overdoing it) help you out!

Our team works side by side with Rich Carpenter photography for his family and senior portraits.

2014, what a fantastic year!

2014 was such a fun and fantastic year for Columbus Traveling Beauty Team.

We started our year knowing that we had already won best
of the knot 2014 and couple's choice award 2014 from weddingwire.com, then we finished our year knowing that we won Best of the Knot for 2015, also.

Then we had a true life beauty to start the year off. Early January we showed up to help this beautiful young pageant lady who ended up coming in 2nd place. We kept hoping she would have come in first to become the youngest Miss Teen Columbus. For this look we help thicken up her hair with some clip in extensions, a little extra curl on her own hair, then brought out the beauty (keeping it age appropriate) on her.
Before performing in the Miss Teen Columbus, this little gal was showing off her true beauty.

After that we ended up participating in 48 weddings, 3 bridal shows, quite a few prom and homecoming ladies, several photoshoots (boudoir and high-school seniors) and a fashion show.

Our travels ranged from Granville (just love going to this quaint town), going down to Hocking Hills (for an Ash Cave wedding), up to Mohican Forest (at the Grande Barn where Pete Nelson of Treehouse Masters has made 2 treehouse on the property for the bridal parties), Circleville (for a beautiful outdoor wedding), and to Fort Jennings (around Van Wert, OH. Would love to go spend some more time there. The scenery is stunning). Most of our other weddings were held in the Columbus area.

The goal for this next year is to travel even further. One of our reasons for starting the team is to be able to see some new areas of Ohio (if not even further), plus do what we love to do (meeting new people, showing off our skills, and making people happy, while giving the most beautiful lasting memories).

Makeup applications, why do they cost so much?

Do you ever wonder why professionals charge so much for makeup? Let us help answer that for you.

At Columbus Traveling Beauty Team we require all of our artists to hold either a cosmetology or aesthetics license (and an independent contractors license). If you end up going to school for it these days it runs between $8000 to $26000 for your education. Then you need to take the exam (and pass) to hold your license. The renewal costs ends up being around $105 plus continuing education (have to pay for the classes as well). The state of Ohio requires a minimum of 8 hours per license (16 hours now for a cosmetology license and independent contractors license). Each class can run anywhere from Free (hardly ever find those classes) to $2000 (yes, I actually paid $2000+ for a hair extension class).

Which does not even cover the cost of:

Zuca Makeup artist bag $295 (to hold most of makeup items). Most of the time we need to have another bag since we have to accommodate for so many different skin tones and styles).

We also left out our brushes (usually around 4 sets or more), disposable mascara wands, lip applicators, sample size container (to give you touch up products needed to keep your look lasting all day long), latex-free sponges, cotton swabs, makeup remover (2 different types, for different purposes), 3 stainless steel mixing palette (so we don't cross contaminate our products), moisturizers, brush cleaner, makeup sanitizing solution (to spray on our products to keep bacteria from spreading and causing any issues), towels, mirrors, tweezers, utility scissors, and holders to keep things organized for us.

(this is just some of my kit set out)

When it comes to the actual application we do a primer on the eyes, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, (most of the time lashes, which requires lash glue), eyebrow filling in, foundation, contouring,  bronzer, cheeks, pressed powder, lip liner, lip stick,  lip gloss, then set with a finishing spray.

We hope this helps with understanding the cost in making people look and feel their very best!
